Job Summary
The Facilities Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing routine maintenance, repairs, and upkeep of buildings, grounds, and equipment to ensure a safe, clean, and functional environment. This role focuses on general maintenance and mechanical tasks and does not require an electrical background.
Key Responsibilities
- ◆Perform routine building maintenance, including basic repairs to walls, floors, ceilings, doors, locks, and fixtures
- ◆Conduct preventative maintenance on facilities, tools, and equipment
- ◆Complete minor plumbing tasks such as fixing leaks, replacing fixtures, and clearing drains
- ◆Perform painting, drywall patching, basic carpentry, and general repairs
- ◆Maintain building exterior and grounds, including light landscaping, snow removal, and trash disposal (as applicable)
- ◆Respond to maintenance requests in a timely and professional manner
- ◆Assist with move-ins, move-outs, and workspace reconfigurations
- ◆Monitor building conditions and report larger repair needs or safety concerns
- ◆Maintain inventory of maintenance supplies and tools
- ◆Follow safety procedures and company policies at all times
Required Qualifications
- ✓High school diploma or equivalent
- ✓1–3 years of experience in facilities maintenance, building maintenance, or a related field (or equivalent hands-on experience)
- ✓Strong mechanical aptitude and general repair skills
- ✓Ability to operate hand tools and basic power tools safely
- ✓Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently
- ✓Good communication and customer service skills
- ✓Ability to lift 50lbs and perform physical tasks such as bending, climbing, and standing for extended periods
- ✓Experience in commercial, industrial, or office facilities
- ✓Familiarity with basic plumbing, carpentry, painting, and HVAC support tasks
- ✓OSHA safety training or similar certifications (preferred but not required)
