How to get in at this plant

Five moves over a week or two. The first one takes ten minutes.

  1. 1

Pick 2–3 people on the Manufacturing team at onsemi

Engineers who joined in the last year or two reply the most. Use the team search on this page to find them.

  2. 2

    Send a short, curious note

One real question about their work. No favors yet. Each person gets a different note, written for this role.

  3. 3

Turn a reply into a short call

Questions worth asking about this team:

    • What does a normal week look like on your team?
    • Is the work mostly new product launches or sustaining existing lines?
    • How much time do you spend on the floor versus at a desk?
    • How did you land the job? What stood out in your interviews?
  4. 4

Apply with someone vouching for you

If the call went well, ask whether they’d pass your résumé to the hiring manager. Send your résumé link, apply that day, and let them know.

  5. 5

    Bring proof to the interview

One page of before-and-after numbers from projects you led: scrap, OEE, cycle time, cost. Plant managers hire on results.

onsemi is hiring a Senior Director to lead its PMIC (Power Management IC) and POL (Point-of-Load) product development. You will set the technical direction and run day-to-day execution for a global team of analog, mixed-signal, digital and layout engineers spread across four sites.

You will own each product from start to finish: defining it with Marketing and Systems, then leading architecture, design, verification, tape-out, silicon validation, qualification and release to production. You will be accountable for schedule, quality, cost and first-pass silicon success. The role combines deep technical knowledge of power management with strong organizational leadership and close work with customers.

Strategy and Product Leadership

  • •Set and carry out the technical roadmap for PMIC and POL products (multi-rail PMICs, buck, boost, buck-boost, LDOs, and digitally controlled/PMBus POL converters) for data center/AI compute, and consumer markets.
  • •Work with Marketing, Business Units and Systems/Applications to turn customer and market needs into competitive product definitions and specifications.
  • •Track the competition and new technologies, and find chances to stand out on efficiency, power density, transient response, integration and cost.
  • •Work with Process Technology to make the best use of onsemi BCD and other process platforms for power management products.

End-to-End Product Development

  • •Own the full development cycle: concept, architecture, design, layout, verification, tape-out, silicon bring-up, characterization, qualification and release to manufacturing.
  • •Make sure projects meet schedule, cost, performance and quality targets, with a strong focus on first-pass silicon success.
  • •Set up and enforce design methodology, design reviews, verification rigor (including mixed-signal/AMS) and documentation standards.
  • •Work with Product Engineering, Test, Applications, Packaging, Quality and Operations to make sure products are manufacturable and can be ramped smoothly.

Organizational Leadership

  • •Lead, grow and develop a global, multi-site organization of managers and engineers in Hudson, Rhode Island, San Jose and Bangalore.
  • •Build a team that performs well, works together and is inclusive, with clear accountability and consistent practices across sites.
  • •Hire, keep and mentor top technical talent.
  • •Plan resources, budgets and headcount across several programs running at the same time.
  • •Encourage innovation, sound technical judgment, and patent and IP creation.

Customer and Cross-Functional Engagement

  • •Act as a senior technical leader with key customers. Support design-wins, technical reviews and strategic engagements.
  • •Work closely with Marketing, Sales, Applications, Systems, Process Technology, Quality and Operations leadership.

Leadership Competencies

  • •Strategic thinking: Connects technology roadmaps to business growth and customer value.
  • •Execution: Delivers complex programs on time with high quality.
  • •Talent development: Builds strong teams and develops future leaders.
  • •Collaboration: Builds effective partnerships across functions, sites and customers.
  • •Customer focus: Understands customer system needs and turns them into winning products.
  • •Integrity and accountability: Owns results and leads by example.
