Your game plan for this job

Most people just hit Apply. Do these first and you show up with someone on the inside.

  1. 1

Find 2–3 people on the Industrial team at this site

Engineers who joined in the last year or two reply most.

  2. 2

    Send a short, curious note

Ask about the work, not for a referral. We write it for you.

  3. 3

    Have a 15-minute chat

    Good questions for this role:

    • What does a normal week look like on your team?
    • Is it more layout and capacity work, or time studies and standard work?
    • How did you land the job? What stood out in your interviews?
  4. 4

    Apply, ideally with a referral

Ask if they'd refer you or introduce you to the hiring manager. Send your résumé link and tell them the day you apply.

  5. 5

    Bring proof to the interview

One page of before-and-after numbers from projects you led: scrap, OEE, cycle time, cost. Plant managers hire on results.

About the job

We are looking for an Industrial Engineer to join our rapidly growing team in Quonset, RI. This role sits within our technical shared services organization (3SI) and carries a dual mandate. First, you operate as a flexible resource for the site: production lines "lease" your time to design and optimize their manufacturing operations as their needs peak and shift — moving across programs and bringing data-driven IE rigor to production line and workstation design, capital equipment, and the metrics that keep a line healthy. Second, you hold a standing factory-macro remit on behalf of 3SI: owning site-level factory layouts, leading cross-functional technical projects, and optimizing material flow across the whole facility rather than any single line. You'll zoom from one line's workstation up to how the entire site moves material and uses its floor space, working shoulder-to-shoulder with Engineering, Supply Chain, Quality, Business Operations, and the Factory Services team to get complex undersea hardware built and shipped to spec.

If you are someone who thrives on bringing order to a fast-scaling production floor — and can hold both the single-line detail and the whole-factory picture at once — this role is for you.

What you’ll do

  • •Deliver core Industrial Engineering standards and capabilities to Quonset's production lines — capacity planning, labor standards, time studies, workstation and line layouts, and discrete event simulation (DES)
  • •Deploy across production lines as a shared resource — partnering with each line's Manufacturing leads to scope the work, deliver it, and hand off cleanly
  • •Own site-level factory layout and material flow — plan and maintain the master floor layout and optimize how material moves between receiving, storage, lineside, and shared services as programs scale and new capabilities come online
  • •Specify, justify, and deploy capital equipment and tooling — define requirements, own the business case and capex justification, and support vendor selection, build, install, and qualification through to production readiness.
  • •Lead cross-functional technical projects on behalf of 3SI — scope, schedule, and drive site infrastructure, equipment, and process-improvement initiatives from definition through execution.
  • •Own operations health metrics and KPIs and build the tools and reports that communicate line and site health across the org.
  • •Identify bottlenecks and constraints across layout, part shortages, staffing, and tooling, then drive resolution with Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Engineering, and Quality.
