How to get in at this plant

Five moves over a week or two. The first one takes ten minutes.

  1. 1

Pick 2–3 people on the Manufacturing team at Waymo

Engineers who joined in the last year or two reply the most. Use the team search on this page to find them.

  2. 2

    Send a short, curious note

One real question about their work. No favors yet. Each person gets a different note, written for this role.

  3. 3

Turn a reply into a short call

Questions worth asking about this team:

    • What does a normal week look like on your team?
    • Is the work mostly new product launches or sustaining existing lines?
    • How much time do you spend on the floor versus at a desk?
    • How did you land the job? What stood out in your interviews?
  4. 4

Apply with someone vouching for you

If the call went well, ask whether they’d pass your résumé to the hiring manager. Send your résumé link, apply that day, and let them know.

  5. 5

    Bring proof to the interview

One page of before-and-after numbers from projects you led: scrap, OEE, cycle time, cost. Plant managers hire on results.

Waymo is an autonomous driving technology company with the mission to be the world's most trusted driver. Since its start as the Google Self-Driving Car Project in 2009, Waymo has focused on building the Waymo Driver—The World's Most Experienced Driver™—to improve access to mobility while saving thousands of lives now lost to traffic crashes. The Waymo Driver powers Waymo’s fully autonomous ride-hail service and can also be applied to a range of vehicle platforms and product use cases. The Waymo Driver has provided over ten million rider-only trips, enabled by its experience autonomously driving over 100 million miles on public roads and tens of billions in simulation across 15+ U.S. states.

We also develop advanced capital strategies to support the company’s short- and long-term future.

This role follows a hybrid work schedule and reports to the Senior Director, FP&A.

  • •Oversee financial analysis, deal structuring, and gate reviews for major supplier contracts, contract manufacturing agreements, and strategic hardware and Vehicle OEM partnerships.
  • •Manage E2E Financial Lifecycles: Lead the Annual Operating Plan and Long-Term Planning processes, ensuring key R&D investments milestones and corporate scaling are fully funded and aligned with Waymo’s multi-year goals.
  • •Manage regular business reviews (MBRs/QBRs) and variance analyses for all Hardware and Supply Chain functions, identifying trends and developing mitigation strategies to ensure proper budget management on a monthly basis.
  • •Process Improvements & Scaling: Identify and execute automation and tool improvements (e.g., advanced financial dashboards) to streamline financial reporting and scale the business finance function alongside rapid company growth, actively shifting the team's focus from tactical execution to generating non-obvious, strategic insights.
  • •Foster robust partnerships with Waymo cross-functional stakeholders.
  • •Build and mentor a high-performing finance team, fostering a culture of collaboration while maintaining high standards of deliverables.
