We are the movers of the world and the makers of the future. We get up every day, roll up our sleeves and build a better world -- together. At Ford, we’re all a part of something bigger than ourselves. Are you ready to change the way the world moves?
As part of our Manufacturing team, you’ll help build the world-class, state-of-the-art smart vehicles we're known for. In our plants around the world, we’re constantly developing new technologies and processes to further increase our efficiency. You'll get the satisfaction of making great products people use and love.
In this position...
You will lead dimensional control and quality improvement throughout the launch and production process. By analyzing measurement data, identifying sources of variation, and applying Six Sigma and statistical process control methods, you will help ensure each build meets quality targets. You will also guide corrective actions, resolve dimensional and gauging concerns, and collaborate with the Body Area Launch Leader, cross-functional teams, and suppliers to deliver stable, high-quality manufacturing processes and products.
What you'll do...
- •Develop and execute dimensional-control strategies to reduce process variation using Six Sigma principles.
- •Set and monitor quality targets for each build.
- •Communicate dimensional concerns, corrective actions, and resolution status to the Body Area Launch Leader and launch team.
- •Provide input on design and assembly concepts to minimize variation.
- •Identify critical characteristics, establish gauging and measurement methods, and define data-collection requirements.
- •Determine inspection equipment and facility requirements.
- •Develop an action plan for each pre-production build to:
- •Investigate and prioritize concerns.
- •Measure subassemblies and body-in-white (BIW) units.
- •Verify corrective actions in internal processes and with internal and external suppliers.
- •Resolve dimensional and gauging issues identified by Tooling and Equipment Specialists.
- •Apply engineering principles and analytical methods to establish and continuously improve manufacturing processes and products.
- •Implement interim and permanent corrective actions to resolve quality issues using tools such as 8D and 6 Panel.
- •Manage statistical process control activities.
- •Conduct measurement systems analysis and variable-data analysis.
- •Identify sources of variation in the production environment and establish tolerance limits and appropriate corrective actions.
- •Support timely concern resolution with cross-functional teams, including Quality, Production, and suppliers.
You'll have...
- •Education: A high school diploma or GED
- •Experienced in dimensional engineering
- •The Leadership Edge: Proven team leadership skills and the ability to manage complex projects with a self-directed, "take-charge" mentality, as well as the ability to flex and rotate hours as needed.
- •Technical Fluency: A fundamental understanding of handheld power tools and sophisticated vehicle assembly tooling, such as multi-spindle secure stations and blind rivet systems.
- •Communication Mastery: Excellent oral and written skills, with the ability to translate technical data into actionable insights for diverse audiences.
- •Problem-Solving Grit: Conflict resolution skills with a focus on the full lifecycle of a concern: leading interim containment, defining root causes, and validating permanent corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- •A Manufacturing Mindset: A distinct desire to thrive in a fast-paced, challenging manufacturing environment and the confidence to supervise and guide hourly personnel.
Even better, you may have...
- •Bachelor’s degree
- •5 years of implementation of process engineering experience
- •A track record of improving manufacturing efficiency through tooling innovation.
- •Experience managing skilled trades
