As the world enters an era of strategic competition, Anduril is committed to bringing cutting-edge autonomy, AI, computer vision, sensor fusion, and networking technology to the military in months, not years.
About the team
Anduril’s Quality organization is seeking a Quality Systems Engineer to own and advance the quality management system for Battlespace Awareness. The Quality team works with our customers, internal teams, and suppliers to ensure the deployment of reliable products that meet all mission requirements. We develop cutting-edge Quality processes and methods to secure scalable, long-term business success.
Battlespace Awareness operates a certified ISO9001 certified quality management system, and we are looking for continuous improvement while harmonizing it with Anduril’s enterprise QMS. As we transition to AS9100 QMS, this role sits at the center of that work. You will be the face of our quality management system — to our auditors, our customers, and our own production floor.
This role is not confined to systems work. The person in this seat will spend real time on product — supplier and special-process oversight, first article inspection, nonconforming material and MRB, and the escapes that come back from the field. We will support a candidate who wants to grow toward Product Quality Engineering, or who comes from the product side and wants to build systems depth.
The right person for this role has deep knowledge of Quality Management System (QMS) standards, data analysis, and continuous improvement and will shape our procedures, our metrics, and our culture of quality. If you are someone who loves to build world-class Quality processes, work hands-on on the floor and not only in the document system, help others succeed on the quality journey, and be accountable for results, then this role is for you.
What you’ll do
- •Own the BA quality management system and its top-level processes — keeping procedures, work instructions, and records current, compliant, and actually used.
- •Serve as the primary QMS process owner supporting the designated management representative under AS9100D §5.3. Lead QMS planning: quality objectives, risk and opportunity management, and the Management Review cycle — building the input package, running the review, converting outputs into tracked actions, and closing those actions before the next cycle.
- •Own the internal audit program end to end: maintain the annual schedule covering every QMS process across the certification cycle, qualify and schedule auditors, protect auditor independence, and drive findings to verified closure. Direct audit execution responsibility.
- •Own the supplier and external provider audit program under AS9100D §8.4. Build and maintain the risk-based supplier audit schedule, perform qualification and re-qualification surveys, conduct on-site and remote audits, and drive supplier corrective actions to verified closure. Partner with Supply Chain and the Supplier Quality team on selection, approved supplier list maintenance, and performance escalation.
- •Work product as well as system: support first article inspection (AS9102), nonconforming material and MRB disposition, and investigation of field escapes — partnering with Product Quality Engineering so quality problems are solved where they originate, not only documented after the fact.
- •Manage the registrar relationship and the full certification cycle — surveillance and recertification scheduling, scope changes, and nonconformity responses inside the registrar’s timelines. Coordination and involvement in customer audits (government or private company) and responses.
- •Own the quality KPIs for BA: define them, report them on a monthly cadence to site and division leadership, investigate adverse trends, and drive the improvement actions that move them. Build the dashboards and reporting that make quality performance visible without someone assembling it by hand.
- •Run recurring 6S and FOD audits on the production floor — scoring, trending, and closing findings with Production and Ops. Maintain the ESD and counterfeit parts prevention programs (AS9100D §8.1.4) as part of the same walk.
- •Driving root cause analysis and corrective action with internal findings from audits and customer visits.
- •Own document and record control: the procedure hierarchy, revision control, approval routing, and retention per AS9100D §7.5. Build QMS training packages, deliver them, and maintain training records with the managers of affected personnel.
- •Partner with product quality engineers and manufacturing engineers during the new product development phase to help prepare new products and sites to meet QMS requirements, develop new capabilities to meet existing QMS requirements, and conduct internal audits before manufacturing readiness review and production readiness review.
- •Develop our internal QMS road map for tools and capabilities to match the scaling of the company — including the harmonization of BA’s QMS with Anduril’s enterprise procedures.
- •Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities that benefit the QMS and product quality.
- •Support investigations, initiatives, and projects as needed, at the team or organization level
